








Radiant heat systems are one of those things that work quietly in the background - until something goes wrong. When plumbing runs beneath a concrete slab and ties into a radiant heating system, any repair work becomes a whole different level of careful. Here's what we were working with on this one. Pipes embedded in concrete, insulation layers packed around the lines, and a system that had to stay intact through the whole repair process. We had to core through the slab, work around that insulation, and make our repairs without compromising any of it.
That means slow, methodical work. We're not rushing through a concrete slab repair when radiant tubing is nearby. Every penetration we made was measured and deliberate. The standpipes were set, sealed at the base with foam collars, and capped off cleanly to protect the lines while the surrounding work continued. Cones went over the fresh patches to keep the area safe until everything cured.
This kind of job is a good reminder that not all plumbing repairs are the same. Working in and around a radiant heat slab requires experience with both the plumbing side and an understanding of how the heating system underneath actually functions. A careless approach can damage tubing that's nearly impossible to access without tearing up more concrete - and that gets expensive fast.
